Art that is enriched in times of difficulty and that draws attention is an inherent need. The depth at which people connect with art differs; this exhibit will focus on the act of purchasing art, which is one proactive manner in which people connect with art. This exhibit go beyond the perspectives of the artist or gallery to look at varied perspectives on how art purchases are made, including how they are chosen, and what each piece means to the purchaser.
At this exhibit, the second in the series, “南無地獄極楽大菩薩”, “佛”, and “風” will be put on exhibit for the first time. Each piece was created by Eisaku Ando as commissioned by Hanateba Mitsuru who lives in Tokyo, last year. Hanateba Mitsuru came to know and became interested in Eisaku Ando through his collection of essays (1997) and through him winning the 28th Hirakushi Denchu Award in 2017, and had a chance to meet him, causing Hanateba Mitsuru to propose a collaboration with the works from Yuichi Inoue that he already owned, which lead to the creation of the three pieces of this exhibit.
We will exhibit Ando’s latest work and recent works in the first floor gallery along with these three standout pieces.

困難な時代により充実し、注目されるアートとは、人間にとって本質的に必要なものだと考えます。アートとの接し方、その深度は人それぞれですが、積極的な関わり方の一つ「アートを購入すること」に焦点を当てた展覧会を開催いたします。アートを購入する側の視点、例えば美術家や作品との向き合い方や選び方、そしてアートとは等、アートを多角的に考える機会にしたいと存じます。
第2回目の「COLLECTION×安藤榮作」では、都内在住”放出満(ﾊﾅﾃﾊﾞﾐﾂﾙ)”氏が昨年安藤氏に依頼した３つの作品、《南無地獄極楽大菩薩》、《佛》、《風》を初展示します。放出満氏は、安藤氏のエッセイ集「降りてくる空気」(1997年)や第28回平櫛田中賞受賞(2017年)等を通して安藤氏を知り、興味を覚え、また交流の機会も得たことから、もともと所有していた井上有一の書とのコラボレーションを提案し、本展の３作品がうまれました。
本展ではこの安藤氏にとっても珍しい３作品をCOLLECTION展としてご紹介し、またギャラリー１階では安藤氏の新作、近作も同時展示いたします。
