Images that have been used as prophecies and messages are expressed as dots against a background of the sky with its various expressions, like particles scattered in space. “Laughing spirit elements” gently appear and disappear. Gold and silver “laughing spirit elements” direct our consciousness to “soft, uncertain states/places”―in other words, to the boundary between the transient world and the eternal world. 

This presents various questions to the viewer: “What is the meaning and the act of laughter?” “How does it function as a medium?” “What derives from this?” We invite you to contemplate this exhibition, a collaboration with Tira Ichikawa,, an artist who works with special lighting.  

さまざまな表情を持つ「空」を背景に、空間に散らばる粒子のように予言やメッセージとして使われてきたイメージがドットで表され、「笑う霊素」がふわふわ現れては消える － 。金や銀の「笑う霊素」は“ふわふわした不確実な状態／場所”、つまり現世と常世の境界に私たちの意識を向かわせます。そして「笑い」の意味や行為、Medium(触媒) としての機能、そこから派生する存在とは？という問いも観るものに投げかけます。特殊照明作家の市川平氏とコラボレーションする展示にもぜひご注目ください。
