Masaru Aikawa Exhibition /

24 February – 19 March, 2022
about

Masaru Aikawa constructed 3D CG models of places found on the map that were appealing to visit. The model allows Aikawa to be in his room while realizing his desire to visit places like “climbing the Matterhorn” or “crossing the Sonoran Desert,” using an avatar. The exhibition includes a video work where Aikawa “experiences” a virtual space similar to reality, created combining satellite images and altitude data that are publicly available, and viewers can follow Aikawa’s experience. The exhibition also includes a series of photographs taken in the locations he visited. The exhibits point our attention to a multi-layered world that progresses with our behaviors and how we share them, all of which continue to change significantly with COVID-19.
