As technology has advanced, images in photographs have always been influenced by photosensitive materials in photographic paper. In the exhibited works, Masaru Aikawa seeks to free images from the photosensitive materials, reducing them to light and shadow alone. In the works, images are developed on the UV-curable resin used in 3D printing. While thoroughly transparent, the works elicit images from their own shadows, a state that Aikawa considers the most natural and beautiful state for photographs. Visitors are invited to encounter Aikawa’s new works, with their focus on the thoughts and actions of persons who undergo change together with the rapid advance of photography.
写真のイメージは、技術の発展の過程で印画紙等の感光材料の影響を常に受けてきました。今回、相川勝はイメージを感光材料から解放し、ただ光と影にすることを試みています。3Dプリンター等で使用される紫外線硬化樹脂（UVレジン）にイメージを現像した本作は、限りなく透明でありながらも自身の影で像を作り出しており、それは写真としてもっとも自然で美しい状態なのではないかと相川は考えます。写真の急速な発展とともに変化する人々の思考や行動に注目する相川勝の新作、ぜひご高覧下さい。
