Eisaku Ando expresses shapes as one would strike wood with a hatchet. He has created countless pieces that are both humorous as well as solemn and serious in nature, with both facets being indispensable in the production of, and as elements in his artwork. In this exhibit, Ando will present wooden carvings that emphasize “feeling like they were made playing with clay, and the freedom and playfulness that entails.”

木を手斧で叩くように刻みながら形を表していく安藤榮作は、荘厳でシリアスな作品と同様にユーモラスな作品も数多く制作しており、この両面は制作の現場においても作品の要素としてもなくてはならないものだと言えます。本展では安藤が「粘土遊びするような感覚、そのライブ感や遊び感」を大事にした、小中の木彫作品を展示します。
